The iWISE Olympiad would like to give students the opportunity to explore new concepts and techniques without the fear of making mistakes. We are looking for clear and consistent aesthetic rhythm throughout a students’ portfolio that explores a diverse range of areas within the field of architecture.

Encourage creative exploration without fear

– To give students a safe space for experimentation, focusing on the design journey rather than just the outcome.

– To allow students to develop new concepts and techniques by focusing on the process, rather than the “mistakes” that are a natural part of design.

Cultivate a distinct aesthetic identity

– To challenge students to develop a clear and consistent “aesthetic rhythm” across a diverse range of projects. This encourages a personal design philosophy rather than a one-off submission.

– To expose students to various architectural sub-disciplines, from urban planning to furniture design, while maintaining a cohesive style.

Build confidence in presenting work

– To help students overcome apprehension about public scrutiny by progressively moving from private work (sketchbook) to public presentation.

– To provide practical experience in constructing a professional portfolio, which is essential for future academic and professional opportunities.

Provide meaningful recognition and networking

– To offer students recognition within the architectural field by having their work judged by a panel of multi-disciplinary experts.

– To connect young creative students with peers and professionals, fostering a community that can inspire future growth and collaboration

The contest will be adjudicated by a talented set of adjudicators, who have multiple disciplines and work across various creative sectors.
