TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Ethics:

  1. Participants are expected to adhere to the ethical rules and regulations when conducting research and exhibiting their work during both rounds of the iWISE Olympiad. 
  2. Participants are not allowed to exhibit the following; living organisms, agar plates, flammable substances, brand names, human or animal parts and tissue, dangerous chemicals and devices, or photographs of any human or animal being harmed. 

Plagiarism 

  1. Participants are not allowed to plagiarize another person’s Artwork/Project/Ideas. 
  2. Participants are not allowed to exhibit another person’s Artwork/Project.
  3. Participants are not allowed to buy someone else’s Artwork/Project to exhibit. 
  4. Plagiarized Artwork/Projects will not be tolerated and amount to immediate disqualification from the iWISE Olympiad.
  5. Plagiarized Artwork/Projects will not be considered for any award.
  6. Participants must sign and submit a plagiarism declaration form.

Refund Policy

  1. Refunds for the iWISE Global Final Exhibition are subject to the discretion of the management, irrespective of whether the grounds for such a refund are attributable to a force majeure event or not.
    1.1. Registration fees for the iWISE National Final are NON-REFUNDABLE.
    1.2. Registration fees for the iWISE Virtual Final are NON-REFUNDABLE.
    1.3. The cost for any additional nights stayed in London is NON-REFUNDABLE.
    1.4. Participants who have received discounts are not permitted to transfer them and must utilize the discount within a period of 30 days from the Virtual Final date.
    1.5. In the case where a participant has been granted multiple discounts, ONLY the highest discount will be applied.

  2. Individuals: The subsequent section refers to individuals falling under any of the subsequent registration categories: PARTICIPANTS, SUPERVISING TEACHERS, PARENT PROGRAM PARTICIPATORS, AND/OR GUESTS.
    2.1. Individuals are responsible for a cancellation fee of £145, regardless of the discount applied or the timing of the refund.
    2.2. If an individual cancels their registration 90 days before the event date, they will be eligible for a 100% refund of the amount paid, with a deduction of the cancellation fee applied.
    2.3. If an individual cancels their registration without reason between 60 to 89 days before the event date, they will be eligible for an 80% refund of the amount paid, with a deduction of the cancellation fee applied.
    2.4. If an individual cancels their registration without reason between 30 and 59 days before the event date, they will be eligible for a 70% refund of the amount paid, with a deduction of the cancellation fee applied.
    2.5. Individuals WILL NOT get a refund if they cancel their registration less than 30 days before the event date without reason.
    2.6. Individuals WILL NOT get a refund upon cancelling their registration if the total refund amount would be less than the cancellation fee amount.

  3. Visa Refusals:
    3.1. If an individual's visa is refused up to 30 days before the event date, they will be eligible for an 80% refund of the amount paid, with a deduction of the cancellation fee applied.
    3.2. If an individual's visa is refused within the last 30 days before the event date, they will be eligible for a 70% refund of the amount paid, with a deduction of the cancellation fee applied.

  4. Refund Calculation:
    4.1. Therefore, the formula used to calculate all refunds is as follows:
    [Paid Amount] * [Refund Percentage] – [Cancellation Fee]
    4.2. If the Refund Calculation formula yields a non-positive result, the Individual is not entitled to a refund.

  5. Additional:
    5.1. If an individual test positive for COVID-19 on the day of the flight and is not able to attend the event, no fees will be refunded.
    5.2. The previous rule also applies to other viral infections/diseases as noted by the
    government of the Global Finals venue, and is dependent entirely on the participants’ country of arrival.
    5.3. For any refunds, the bank transfer fees will be deducted from the total amount to be returned to the participant or the person paying for the participant.
    5.4. If management rejects an applicant prior to arrival at the Global Finals, the fee-payer will receive a refund of all monies paid, with an administrative fee of £145 to be deducted from that sum.
    5.6. All refunds will be made only to the original fee payer via the original payment method.
    5.7. iWISE will not issue any refunds after the arrival date has passed and the student is considered absent without official leave.
    5.8. No refund will be given to any participant who got a visa but cancelled their registration.

Code of Conduct

  1. I, a Participant in the iWISE Olympiad:
  1. Agree to adhere to the iWISE Olympiad’s Code of Conduct, already published on iWISE Olympiad Official Website. 
  2. Have the authority to use my artwork/project for submission and promotional purposes on the iWISE Olympiad’s website, journal and social media platforms. 
  3. Will be present at all iWISE events such as the adjudication of my submission or the awards ceremony. If I am not present at any of these events, the iWISE Olympiad’s Committee has the right to withdraw my medal(s), special award(s) and grand prize. 
  4. Will not ask judges to judge my artwork/project if I am not present by my stand during the adjudication process. 
  5. Will accept the Chief Judge’s Decision as the final decision of my artwork/project. 
  6. Will not change any part of my artwork/project after submitting my registration online. 
  7. Accept that my parents/guardians and I shall be liable for all expenses incurred by the organization in relation to my artwork/project. 
  8. Will be respectful to everyone involved in the iWISE Olympiad. 
  9. Will not harm anyone physically or verbally that includes assault, sexual and/or physical abuse. 
  10. Will not engage in harassment, whether physical, verbal, oral or written. 
  11. Will not mistreat anyone who is involved in the contest. 
  12. Will not partake in the usage of any drugs, alcohol or other illegal substances. 
  13. Will not be in possession of any drugs, alcohol or other illegal substances.
  14. Will not purchase or sell any drugs, or alcohol illegally.  
  15. Will not influence anyone else to use alcohol and drugs. 
  16. Will always conduct myself with honesty and integrity.
  17. Will not steal or damage anyone’s property including the organization’s property.
  18. Will not have any firearms or other weapons in my possession. 
  19. Will not gamble or force anyone to gamble.

Safety Regulations

The following objects are prohibited 

  1. Living organisms, including plants.
  2. Glass, soil, rock, sand, and waste samples, even if it is permanently encased in a slab of acrylic. 
  3. Taxidermy specimens or parts.
  4. Preserved vertebrate or invertebrate animals.
  5. Any type of food including animal food.
  6. Human and animal body parts or body fluids such as urine, blood etc. 
  7. Plant materials.
  8. Any chemicals, no liquids can be utilized at the exhibition
  9. All hazardous substances, devices or sharp items such as poisons, drugs, weapons, knives, syringes etc. 
  10. Fire and highly flammable material.
  11. Batteries with open-top cells or wet cells.
  12. Any display items that are deemed distracting such as sounds, light, odours, any laser or laser pointer etc.
  13. Any apparatus or materials deemed unsafe by the Display & Safety Committee or Society. 

General Terms and Conditions

  1. Participants, educators, organizations, schools, and participants’ parents cannot question the iWISE Olympiad’s Committee on any decision to disqualify an artwork/ project.
  2. The Code of Conduct applies to all participants who participate in the iWISE Olympiad’s National and Global Round. 
  3. Finalists who travel to the UK when participating in iWISE Olympiad’s Global round will be responsible for his/her behaviour.
  4. Finalists who travel to the UK when participating in the iWISE Olympiad’s Global round will be responsible for his/her loss, damage, injury of his/her items or personal injury.
  5. Finalists who break any rules of the iWISE Olympiad must be ready to face any consequences and decisions taken by iWISE Olympiad Committee. 
  6. Finalists must keep a copy of the references that they used in their work. 
  7. The iWISE Olympiad Committee reserves the right to use finalists’ names, photographs, statements, quotes, testimonials and video submissions for promotional purposes without notification or further compensation.
  8. The iWISE Olympiad Committee reserves the right to edit video submissions. E.g. trim, display etc. 
  9. The iWISE Olympiad’s Committee reserves the right to reprint, distribute, perform, display or exhibit any video or pdf documents submitted, for promotional purposes on any of the iWISE promotional sites such as our website and social media platforms. 
  10. Finalists must agree to be bound by the official contest rules and decisions by taken the judges. 
  11. Finalists cannot dispute any decision taken by the iWISE Olympiad Judges. 
  12. Late submissions will not be accepted for adjudication.
  13. Finalists must provide his/her full name, a valid email address, and any other of his/her details requested in order to complete the registration process. 
  14. Finalists’ login profiles may only be used by one person, finalists are not allowed to share his/her login details with any third parties.
  15. Finalists are responsible for maintaining the security of his/her account and password. The iWISE Olympiad Organization will not be liable for any loss or damage from your failure to comply with this security protocol.
  16. Finalists are responsible for all content posted and activity that occurs under his/her account. 
  17. The iWISE Olympiad Organization reserves the right at any time to modify or discontinue, either temporarily or permanently, your access to your account. 
  18. Support for iWISE Olympiad services is only available in English, via email.
  19. The iWISE Olympiad will not insure any finalist or their artwork/project before, during or after the exhibition. 
  20. The iWISE Olympiad will not insure any finalist or their artwork/project before, during or after the exhibition.
